Do you have a journey that means something deeper?

Hi, I'm more than happy to join this project. I’m Tom. I’m 60 years old, and this is my first time flying long-haul. My wife passed away last year, and she always wanted to visit California. So here I am, doing this for her. We planned our trip together but right now, I’m just flying myself. I’m not doubting it will be hard, but I'm sure this will bring me some comfort. I plan to follow our plan and take photos at all the main points. This trip is for her! ( and, I guess for your project now too!).
Some journeys are more than just miles.
Hi Tom,
I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes after reading your story. I just wanted to say how deeply moved I am. The way you wrote about your wife, and the strength it must’ve taken to still travel… it really touched something in me. You must have loved her so deeply, and the way you’re honouring her by still going, by living life while keeping her with you—that’s very beautiful, and brave.
Thank you for sharing something so personal with me /us. I’ll be thinking about you and your story long after this flight. I hope LA brings you peace, maybe a few smiles, and the comfort of knowing she’s still right there with you, just in a different way now.
With warmth and respect,
–Anita
It’s so easy to forget that behind every smile on a plane, there could be someone holding so much grief, love, memory. Tom's story reminded me that travel isn’t always about ticking off destinations or chasing excitement—it’s about the journeys we carry inside, the ones filled with people we’ve loved and lost.
